Designer Tip | Recoloring Elements

Posted on April 09, 2012 by Gina Cabrera | 2 Comments

I received a request for a quick tutorial on recoloring elements. First, I want to disclose that I am not a Photoshop expert and am completely self taught. So with that said, let's continue on with the tutorial. You want to make sure you recolor along the same tones. If you want to recolor a brown button to a purple that works better than trying to recolor a brown button to a pink one.

I like to use the Hue/Saturation option. First, set your desired Foreground Color. Select Image>>Adjustment>>Hue Saturation.

In the Hue/Saturation pop up box check the Colorize box and adjust the Saturation slider. The higher (+) the brighter the color in your element will appear. The lower (-) the darker it will be. When you are finished click OK. That's it. Be sure to use the "Save As" option so that you don't save over the original.

If you have any other requests for quick tutorials, please leave them in the comments.
